How cleaning the carpet led to texturing the walls

I’m one of those ding dongs who can’t go from point A to point B directly.  My ADD is strong enough that when I’m on a mission, 27 other little missions pop up along the way. See my crude map that shows the route I took? This crazy route is one I take at least a million times per day.

Case in point…I was going to shampoo the carpet in my office. I managed to get the carpet cleaner ready for use in one trip and I even managed to clean ½ of the carpet before I got distracted. It was then that I noticed that the wallpaper border that one of my kidlets had started stripping was still on part of the wall. Then I noticed that the wallpaper on one whole wall was really ugly and needed to be stripped.

I abandoned the carpet cleaning and started stripping the wallpaper border. None of it would come off easily so I had to really work at it. For a few days. The entire wall that was covered went a lot faster so it only took me 3 days to finish that job because of course, I got distracted during the work.

Next I noticed that there were some cracks in the walls due to the dry summer we had so I knew that I’d have to repair them. The wall that was totally papered had never been textured so I realized that I was going to have to texturize it. This led to another distraction because I had to go on line right then and find out how to do that job.

I was on my way to the garage to look and see if we had any wall texture mud stuff or any of the necessary tools when I walked through the kitchen and noticed that the cat food container was empty. I had to stop what I was doing so I could refill the cat bowl. While refilling the bowl I noticed that there was lots of junk on the tile floor so I swept it. That led me to taking out the trash. I finally made it to the garage only to discover that we did not have any wall texture mud stuff.

I had planned on going to the hardware store the next day to purchase some wall texture mud stuff but I got distracted and ended up grocery shopping. It’s been 3 weeks and I still haven’t gotten the wall texture mud stuff. The carpet is still ½ cleaned and the cracks in the walls still aren’t repaired either.

I need to get these chores finished, people! It would be nice if Mr. Wonderful offered to help me both doing the work and keeping me on task but it’s not going to happen. My kids are no help either. The only ones willing to help are Ruby, Pork Chop and Schwayze the cats. They’ll sit in the room with me and keep me company while I work. And they won’t mind if I get distracted by them and stop working so I can pet and play with them.
